Daiichi Sankyo employee Junya Koga represented Japan in the men’s 400 m freestyle swimming event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Koga was employed by the Company in 2011 through the scheme for finding work for leading athletes operated by the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) with the aim of supporting Japanese athletes looking to become the best in the world. Moreover, Koga was the first athlete to conclude an official employment agreement with a company through the JOC’s scheme.
The motivation, passion, and ambition that fuels Koga’s constant drive to be No. 1 in world in his sport matches the vision and spirit of the Daiichi Sankyo Group in its pursuit of becoming a Global Pharma Innovator. Koga thus has our full support in his athletic endeavors.

Sponsorship of a Cherry Blossom Festival in Rome

In fiscal 2014, Daiichi Sankyo Italia S.p.A. sponsored a cherry blossom festival held along the Japan-themed walkway known as Passeggiata del Giappone, in the EUR district of Rome, and also planned and held cherry blossom viewing events and other activities. The cherry trees growing in this district were donated by Tokyo, as was the case with those planted alongside the Potomac River, in Washington, D.C.

Activities for Honoring the Achievements of Dr. Jokichi Takamine

Daiichi Sankyo donates to the Dr. Jokichi Takamine Memorial Foundation, an organization established with the aim of honoring the achievements of Dr. Jokichi Takamine, the first president of the Company’s predecessor Sankyo Co., Ltd., and supporting science education.
