We have about 2,300 overseas medical representatives in 33 locations, mainly in Europe and the United States. From this point on, we are aiming for growth through our own development and sales, mainly in the United States, and to this end, we are planning to expand our overseas development and sales bases. While making efforts to develop innovative new medicines, we have become established as a firm presence in the global market for pharmaceutical products by implementing the highest standard of operational efficiency in the industry in order to "respond to the medical needs of people everywhere."
Our U.S. subsidiary, Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. (DSI) has research and development and sales sections, and as the organization that forms the nucleus of our U.S. operations, is expected to grow in the future.
Our European subsidiary, Daiichi Sankyo Europe GmbH (DSE), is headquartered in Munich, Germany, and has around 800 medical representatives in operational bases in 10 European countries.

Pharmaceutical operations in Japan support our revenue base, and from the time of the our predecessor companies, Sankyo and Daiichi Pharmaceuticals, we have actively provided information in several fields including cardiovascular diseases, infectious diseases, bones/joint diseases, and contrast media. As a leading domestic company, we will continue to contribute to the health of people everywhere by bringing to market even more new products, particularly with our product lineup in the area of cardiovascular drugs by providing detailed information, promoting research and development in accordance with the actual and potential needs of the market, and by ensuring quality and safety management and a consistent supply reliability from production to distribution.
As a leading company in the field of cardiovascular drugs, DAIICHI SANKYO provide with various products for the treatment of basic ailments such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia and diabetes, as well as products for the treatment of cardiovascular events such as heart failure, arrhythmia and heart attack. Furthermore, our goal is to create new drugs based on information collected through data on people's needs involving the question of what drugs are necessary for health care providers and patients, and by receiving constant feedback from our research and development divisions.
Consumer Health operations
In recent years, concern for health has grown more and more. People naturally take constant care of their health to prevent illness in advance, but it is also noticeable that people are now engaging in self-medication, from using over-the-counter drugs at their own discretion to alleviate the symptoms of a mild cold or fever, to taking supplements to compensate for nutritional deficiencies.
In addition to over-the-counter medicines, DAIICHI SANKYO has set up consumer health operations, including functional foods and skin care, as one of its core operations, and through one of our group companies, DAIICHI SANKYO HEALTHCARE CO., LTD. we are making further efforts to develop self-medication.
