DAIICHI SANKYO Contributes to Relief Efforts for
Cyclone Nargis and Sichuan Earthquake Victims
Tokyo, June 2, 2008 - DAIICHI SANKYO COMPANY, LIMITED (hereafter; DAIICHI SANKYO) has announced that it has contributed 10 million Japanese yen (approximately 95,000 U.S. dollars) to the Japanese Red Cross Society to aid the victims of the Sichuan Earthquake in China.
In addition to the monetary aid, DAIICHI SANKYO subsidiaries Daiichi Pharmaceutical (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Sankyo Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. have donated medical supplies through the local authorities in Sichuan Province.
The total amount of aid donated from the DAIICHI SANKYO group including subsidiaries in China has now reached 63 million Japanese yen (approximately 597,000 U.S. dollars).
DAIICHI SANKYO has also donated 5 million Japanese yen (approximately 47,000 U.S. dollars) to the Japanese Red Cross Society to aid in relief efforts for the victims of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar.
DAIICHI SANKYO offers its deepest sympathy to those affected by these disasters and sincerely hopes that both regions will be able to begin the rebuilding and healing process soon.
