Support for Cancer Patients and their Families
Daiichi Sankyo has held the “Daiichi Sankyo Presents Family Tie Theater” program in cooperation with the Shiki Theatre Company and NPO Cancer Support Community Japan every year since fiscal 2010. Through this program, we invite cancer patients and their family members to enjoy musicals by the Shiki Theatre Company out of our desire to help underscore the importance of family ties in supporting one another and to give them the strength to continue their fight against cancer.
In fiscal 2017, approximately 400 patients and their family members were invited, and eight Daiichi Sankyo Group employees volunteered to run the event. They received comments from attendees such as “Please create new medicines.” The employees of Daiichi Sankyo will take their wishes to heart and empower drug discovery efforts.

Making Donations through TABLE FOR TWO
At the cafeteria in the company headquarters, we offer a “social contribution” menu (Healthy Lunch, Healthy BOX) that allows employees to contribute to the “enrichment of the quality of life and health of people around the world.” By selecting these low-calorie meals, employees can support the non-profit organization, TABLE FOR TWO International, which provides free school lunches for children in developing countries to help alleviate food inequality. In fiscal 2017*, we donated 307,500 yen through 15,375 meal orders.

Jianshi Township where the activities were held in fiscal 2017, is located approximately 70 km west of Taipei in southeastern Hsinchu County. Most of the township is part of a mountain district. It is picturesque with magnificent mountain ranges and deep valleys. However, debris flows are likely to occur whenever a typhoon comes, causing enormous damage. Therefore, the area often requires social support. Additionally, as the population is declining, it was selected as the site for these activities. As it was good weather on the day of the event and lots of outdoor games were incorporated into the activities, many people came to participate in the event. They enjoyed the game and other programs with employees from Daiichi Sankyo Taiwan Ltd. in a pleasant atmosphere. In the future, we will also implement other activities with the aim of creating a healthy society through the ideas and teamwork of employees in order to contribute to the health of individuals living in local communities.
