Reconstruction Support Following the Great East Japan Earthquake
We support the ideals of the Coastal Forest Restoration Project in Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture, an area devastated by the tsunami during the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. This long-term reconstruction support project has been led by the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual, and Cultural Advancement (OISCA: Suginami, Japan), and we have this initiative since 2012. In particular, our employees have volunteered in tree-raising activities since fiscal year 2013. The goal of This project aims to restore coastal forests, by approximately 500,000 Japanese black pine seedlings by 2020, and continuing silvicultural activities across an area of 100 hectares through 2033.
In fiscal year 2024, 78 employee volunteers participated, and to date, a total of 394 group employees have taken part in the activities of this project.
o encourage the continued healthy growth of the Japanese black pine, a steady stream of long-term work which requires many helping hands will be necessary. This includes weed removal, side-ditch excavation, and thinning. The Daiichi Sankyo Group will continue to provide support by encouraging employee volunteers to help with the work in addition to providing financial support.
