Efforts Toward the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted in the UN Summit 2015, consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets, are international goals to resolve global social issues and achieve a sustainable world.

The Daiichi Sankyo Group contributes to the achievement of Goal 3: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.” through the creation of innovative pharmaceuticals and reduction of restrictions to access to healthcare among patients. We also contribute to other goals including Innovation (Goal 9), Climate Action (Goal 13) and Partnerships for the Goals (Goal 17) .


Good Health and Well-Being

The Daiichi Sankyo Group contributes to ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all through working to resolve unmet medical needs, such as cancer and other non-communicable diseases, rare diseases, malaria, tuberculosis, and neglected tropical diseases.

The Group promotes human resources development and organizations that create innovation, thereby contributing to fulfilling its mission through the creation of innovative pharmaceuticals.

The Group promotes the realization of a sustainable society through working to reduce our environmental impact and risks and to effectively use resources across the entirety of our business activites.

The Group addresses the issues in research and development of medicines and access barriers to healthcare through diverse partnerships with industry, academic, government, and others.

JAPAN Committed SDGs

The Group’s initiatives are introduced on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an example of companies which are committed to the achievement of SDGs.

Penetration of SDGs

To deepen employee's understanding to the SDGs, the person in charge of SDGs promotion in the Sustainability Promotion Department explain the SDGs to each department, and cultivate staff members who will lead the promotion of SDGs initiatives in their department. As a result of these efforts,  the number of approaches related to the SDGs considered by each department is increasing.
