Daiichi Sankyo has been selected by CDP*1, an international environmental non-profit organization, as a Supplier Engagement Leader, the highest rating in its Supplier Engagement Rating, in recognition of the company's efforts to address climate change through its supply chain and its activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions for the third consecutive year.

CDP is developing a program to assess suppliers' climate change efforts. In FY2021, more than 11,400 companies were assessed for their efforts based on their responses to the governance, targets, value chain(scope 3) emissions and value chain engagement strategies areas of the CDP Climate Change Questionnaire, and 518 companies worldwide were selected as Supplier Engagement Leaders, of which 105 were Japanese companies.

Daiichi Sankyo also received a top "A List" designation in the 2021 Climate Change category for second consecutive years.

In the current 5-year business plan, we defined three future visions as 2050 long-term targets towards the realization of sustainable society: “Carbon neutrality” toward a decarbonized society, “100% recycling rate” toward a circular economy, and “Minimization of environmental risk” to fulfill our duties for a society co-existing with nature.
In particular, we have been working on carbon neutrality through saving energy and reducing carbon emissions in our business activities, while being one of the earliest companies to set a CO2 emission reduction target approved by SBTi*2 in order to reach the 2015 Paris Agreement. To accelerate the realization of carbon neutrality by 2050, we will proactively utilize installable carbon-neutral technology, on top of purchasing renewable electricity, installing a large-scale solar power system using plant premises, and upgrading the facilities to high-efficiency facilities, among others.

As a life science-oriented company aiming “to contribute to the enrichment of quality of life around the world,” Daiichi Sankyo will continue to support conservation of the global environment, which is the foundation of all biological activity and human life, regarding it as a key management issue.
